Victoria & Albert Museum 'Surveillanced' Multimedia Installation

‘Surveillanced’ was part of a special three day extension to the Victoria & Albert Museum’s Disobedient Objects Exhibition (26 July 2014 - 1 February 2015). The piece explores the juxtaposition between how  digital technologies can both take away our so much of our privacy as we are in an almost constant state of surveillance; yet this very same technologies allow us to record and expose situations via pictures, video and audio that would not otherwise get coverage in the mainstream media. We sacrifice privacy but conversely gain the power of giving a voice to the voiceless.

This video installation features footage from live web cameras that monitor faces and places from around the world. It also brings together first-hand video footage shot in 9 different countries from 17 different protests that have taken place around the world in the last few years submitted by various people that experienced the events in person (see below for credits)
